Nestled in the heart of Tuscany amidst vineyards and olive groves, Vinci is world-famous as the birthplace of the Genius of the Renaissance<\/strong>.\u00a0Leonardo<\/strong>\u00a0was born in Vinci on 15 April 1452. Here he spent the years of his childhood and youth and laid the foundations of his future work as an artist, scientist and engineer. In the heart of Vinci, the\u00a0Museo Leonardiano<\/strong>\u00a0represents the oldest collection of models entirely dedicated to Leonardo the technologist, scientist, engineer and, more generally, to the history of Renaissance technique. The Museum is housed inside the\u00a0Palazzina Uzielli\u00a0<\/strong>(first exhibition section) and the\u00a0Castello dei Conti Guidi\u00a0<\/strong>(second exhibition section), both located in the historic centre and 50 metres apart. The visit ends on the Castle\u2019s panoramic terrace, from which there is a splendid view. Several monuments recall some of his famous works such as\u00a0Leonardo\u2019s Horse<\/strong>, by the sculptor\u00a0Nina Akamu<\/strong>, the colossal statue dedicated<\/strong> to\u00a0Francesco Sforza<\/strong>\u00a0and never completed,\u00a0Mario Ceroli<\/strong>\u2018s wooden sculpture\u00a0L\u2019uomo di Vinci<\/strong>\u00a0inspired by\u00a0Vitruvius\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0famous reproduction of the man, or the sculptures in\u00a0Piazza de\u2019 Guidi\u00a0<\/strong>by\u00a0Mimmo Paladino<\/strong>, with their striking geometric shapes and the peculiar starry polyhedron. Within the perimeter of the ancient castle walls, the\u00a0Church of Santa Croce<\/strong>\u00a0preserves the ancient baptismal font where it is believed Leonardo was baptised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
