At <strong>12:30 p.m. <\/strong>the first of the <strong>417 cars in the race (15 of which on the <em>Special List<\/em>),<\/strong> a 1927 O.M. 665 SUPERBA , led the way to Brescia <strong>Castle<\/strong>, where the first block of <strong>Time Trials<\/strong> took place. After the <strong>Passage Control<\/strong> in <strong>Piazza Vittoria<\/strong>, the convoy then left Brescia to head towards the <strong>Ghedi Military Airbase<\/strong>, the first of the five symbolic places where the race will pass on the occasion of the <strong>Air Force Centenary.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the <strong>first day of the race<\/strong>, the crews will cover some <strong>360 kilometres<\/strong>, out of a total of more than <strong>2000<\/strong> for this unprecedented <strong>five-leg edition<\/strong>, towards <strong>Cervia-Milano Marittima<\/strong>. Over the next few days, drivers and co-drivers will have to test themselves in 34 Passage Controls, 23 Time Controls, 144 Time Trials and 8 Average Trials with 25 secret detections. The absolute new feature of this year\u2019s route is the passage through <strong>Piedmont<\/strong>, which has two precedents only in the historic speed race in 1947-48.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reigning champions <strong>Andrea Vesco<\/strong> and <strong>Fabio Salvinelli<\/strong> had this to say just before the engines started:<em> \u201cAlmost thirty years\u2019 experience will help in such a long race full of unexpected events. We are serene, the pressure is on our opponents. We will do everything possible to improve our performance&nbsp;of&nbsp;last&nbsp;year\u201d<\/em>.&nbsp; In their <strong>1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS ZAGATO<\/strong> they will try to win again this year and give Andrea Vesco the title of the first driver in history to have won four consecutive editions of the 1000 Miglia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also at the start there will be the fifth edition of the <strong>1000 Miglia Green<\/strong>, reserved for Hypercars, Supercars and Brand Premium Fullelectric, and the fourteenth <strong>Ferrari Tribute 1000 Miglia<\/strong>, to which 119 cars from the Maranello marque built after 1958 have been accepted. Finally, this year a special vehicle will be present in the convoy: the <strong>Maserati MC20 Cielo<\/strong> from the Milan Politecnico\u2019s <strong>1000<\/strong> <strong>Miglia Autonomous Drive <\/strong>project,<strong> <em>which will drive, for the first time on open roads, some sections of the route in Autonomous Drive mode.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2023 edition of the 1000 Miglia has finally started.
