The evening before the presentation of the Mille Miglia at the&nbsp;<strong>Techno Classica in Essen<\/strong>, the German magazine&nbsp;<strong>Motor Klassik<\/strong>&nbsp;announced the winners of the competition organized amongst its readers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a gala evening at&nbsp;<strong>Schloss Dyck<\/strong>, near D\u00fcsseldorf, the magazine announced the results of a survey conducted over the previous months amongst its readers, who had been asked to vote for what they consider excellence in international vintage motoring, ie. the best restorers, museums, events, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awards were given to the winners in the various categories of&nbsp;<strong>Motor Klassik&#8217;s<\/strong>&nbsp;annual voting: this year saw the participation of an impressive&nbsp;<strong>13,495 readers<\/strong>&nbsp;called on to name their favourite cars (in chronological categories), certain accessories and suppliers, the racing car of the year, the event of the year, the person of year and the auction of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Mille Miglia<\/strong>&nbsp;was voted&nbsp;<strong>Event of the Year<\/strong>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>35.8%<\/strong>&nbsp;of the votes, followed by the&nbsp;<strong>Goodwood Festival of Speed<\/strong>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<strong>24.1%<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Oldtimer Grand Prix<\/strong>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<strong>21%.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The success of the Italian race is even greater considering the importance of the other races nominated:&nbsp;<strong>Goodwood<\/strong>&nbsp;is the most important event in the English speaking world, attracting nearly 200,000 paying spectators to an estate in&nbsp;<strong>Sussex<\/strong>, while the&nbsp;<strong>Oldtimer GP<\/strong>&nbsp;held in August at the&nbsp;<strong>N\u00fcrburgring<\/strong>&nbsp;is the vintage motor racing Mecca of central Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a major success not only for the Freccia Rossa in general but also for the 2013 Mille Miglia in particular (the first to be organized by1000 MigliaSrl) which a significant sample of specialists judged the best event in the world last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The best selling German vintage car magazine, one of the most widely sold in Europe, organized an award for the best vintage car event in 2013: it was won by the Mille Miglia Tuesday 25 March.
