{"id":47657,"date":"2024-06-13T11:07:58","date_gmt":"2024-06-13T09:07:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/1000miglia.it\/?p=47657"},"modified":"2024-06-13T11:11:03","modified_gmt":"2024-06-13T09:11:03","slug":"1000-miglia-2024-the-third-leg-gets-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/1000miglia.it\/en\/2024\/1000-miglia-2024-the-third-leg-gets-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"1000 Miglia 2024, the third leg gets underway"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The third leg of the 42nd re-enactment of the Most Beautiful Race in the world started early this morning, under overcast skies, from the <strong>Cittadella del Carnevale<\/strong>, a multi-purpose cultural centre entirely dedicated to Viareggio&#8217;s famous carnival. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Less than an hour after the start, the crews had already reached the <strong>Walls of Lucca,<\/strong> where the first Time Trials of the day were held. These Time Trials, together with those of yesterday in Viareggio, will award the <strong>Puccini Trophy<\/strong>, dedicated to the centenary of the death of the Maestro. Descending from the city walls, the cars first reached the centre for a Passage Control and then the province of Pisa, heading for <strong>Pontedera<\/strong>, the home of the <strong>Vespa.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the trials in Lucca, the classification of the <strong>1000 Miglia 2024<\/strong> confirms <strong>Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli<\/strong> in the lead, followed by the crews Fontanella-Covella and Alviverti-Valente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leading the Ferrari Tribute classification are <strong>Frank Binder and Giordano Mozzi<\/strong> in a <strong>296 GTS;<\/strong> behind them are <strong>Smussi-Smussi<\/strong> in a <strong>1996 F355 GTS<\/strong> and <strong>Sangiovanni-Sangiovanni<\/strong> in an <strong>812 GTS.<\/strong> Leading the <strong>1000 Miglia Green<\/strong> are <strong>Mirco Magni and Alessandro Ferruta<\/strong> in a <strong>Polestar 2;<\/strong> finally, <strong>Ghilardelli-Ghilardelli<\/strong> with a 2017 <strong>Mercedes Amg Gtc<\/strong> lead the 1000 Miglia Experience classification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuing in a southerly direction, the cars travelled along the spectacular <strong>Strada del Romito,<\/strong> with elevated stretches overlooking the sea alternating with small inlets, before reaching <strong>Castiglioncello.<\/strong> Having left the coastal hamlet, the heart of Rosignano Marittimo also embraced the Red Arrow with a Time Control in <strong>Piazza del Mercato.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After passing through the lands of Puccini, the convoy will enter the places dear to <strong>Giosu\u00e8 Carducci:<\/strong> 10 Time Trials in the <strong>Bibbona<\/strong> area, before turning onto the famous <strong>Viale dei Cipressi,<\/strong> a straight stretch of almost five kilometres shaded on both sides by a row of dense, centuries-old cypresses.
