{"id":4770,"date":"2018-11-07T13:49:08","date_gmt":"2018-11-07T12:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/1000miglia.it\/?p=4770"},"modified":"2023-07-05T15:17:23","modified_gmt":"2023-07-05T13:17:23","slug":"great-success-of-the-first-1000-miglia-warm-up-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/1000miglia.it\/en\/2018\/great-success-of-the-first-1000-miglia-warm-up-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"Great success of the first 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>For the first time ever, the 1000 Miglia brought its legendary open-road motorsport endurance race outside the Italian borders and to the United States <strong>from Thursday, October 25 to Saturday, 27<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>1000 Miglia Warm Up USA<\/em> was organized <strong>in conjunction with the Italian Embassy and the Historic Vehicle Association (HVA)<\/strong>, that is dedicated to preserving and sharing America\u2019s automotive heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday the classic car rally covered <strong>more than 150-miles<\/strong> of some of the most scenic areas in Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. before finally crossing the finish line at <strong>Villa Firenze<\/strong>, the official residence of the Italian Ambassador to the United States of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were <strong>only 18 classic cars<\/strong> participating in this exclusive event, 3 of which were the \u201c1000 Miglia Official Cars\u201d out of the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Driving a 1952 Jaguar XK120 M, John Houghtaling and his navigator Franco Valobra crossed onto Italian-soil at Villa Firenze as winners, finishing first in the speed-distance-time rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating teams celebrated the first-ever <em>1000 Miglia Warm Up USA<\/em> with a special awarding ceremony hosted by the Ambassador of Italy Armando Varricchio at his residence in Washington D.C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the award ceremony, the Ambassador mentioned that: \u00abThe first Warm Up Usa represents the beginning of the 1000 Miglia American adventure that will enhance further the reputation of our Country in the USA\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inaugural event launches the beginning of future USA activities and as Franco Gussalli Beretta, President of 1000 Miglia srl said: \u00abThe 1000 Miglia represents all things iconic of Italy, its history, traditions, elegance and automotive passion.
