The inaugural edition of the 1000 Miglia Experience Italy<\/strong> <\/a>ended in the afternoon on the seafront of Bari. The citizens of the Apulian capital, new to the passage of a Red Arrow<\/strong> event, enthusiastically welcomed the crews at the foot of the Blue Sky Wheel<\/em><\/strong> panoramic Ferris wheel, a worthy conclusion to these two days of driving through the treasures of Southern Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 560 kilometres<\/strong> through the regions of Campania, Basilicata and Puglia,<\/strong> including exciting sports challenges and routes to discover UNESCO World Heritage<\/strong> Sites<\/strong>, Alfonso Facchini and Luigia Olivetti<\/strong> were declared the winners, which includes guaranteed entrance to the Coppa delle Alpi by 1000 Miglia 2026. In their faithful 1938 B.M.W. 328<\/strong>, the three-time champions of Sorrento Roads (whose experience led to the current format of Experience Italy) finished ahead of their daughter Sonia<\/strong> , navigator for Flavio Bettinaldi<\/strong> in a 1939 MG TB. <\/strong>Finally, Fabio Vergamini and Anna Maria Fabrizi<\/strong> took the third place in a 2017 Ferrari 488 GTB.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The good weather of these past days, since the day before yesterday when the crews arrived in Sorrento for the checks and the Citt\u00e0 di Sorrento Trophy<\/strong> (won by Bettinaldi-Facchini), has persisted until the end of today’s leg in Puglia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday morning the competitors set off and crossed the splendid Amalfi Coast<\/strong>, then passed through Salerno<\/strong> and travelled down the south coast. Then they travelled inland, climbing towards Caggiano<\/strong>, with challenging Time Trials and Average Trials that became even more challenging in the Central Lucanian Apennines<\/strong>. At the end of the leg, the crews in the race were welcomed by Matera<\/strong>, with an unforgettable view of the Sassi coloured by the warm light of the sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, after passing by the Military Airport of Gioia del Colle<\/strong>, they reached Alberobello<\/strong> with its characteristic Trulli<\/strong>. Afterwards, the race got back into full swing with two series of Time Trials on the track, first inside the Kartodromo 90<\/strong> (about 20 kilometres from Alberobello), and then on the Circuito del Levante<\/strong>. After stopping in Andria for lunch and in Castel del Monte<\/strong> for a guided tour of this masterpiece of medieval architecture, the crews headed for Bari<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
