The cars of the 1000 Miglia at the turning point

The third leg of the 1000 Miglia opened this morning at dawn: the 430 cars of the Freccia Rossa wormed up their engines and left Rome at 6:30 a.m. heading to Bologna.

As of last night the crews leading the ranking were Andrea Vesco – Andrea Guerini (Team Villa Trasqua), in an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Zagato 1929; Giovanni Moceri e Daniele Bonetti (Team Alfa Romeo), driving an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS 1928; in third place Juan Tonconogy e Barbara Ruffini in a Bugatti Type 40 1927.

After the departure, the cars will cross Viterbo, Radicofani, Castiglione d’Orcia to then the arrive in Siena is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., here they will stop for a quick lunch break at the Palazzo Pubblico. The journey will then resume heading to Vinci. Here the crews will pay homage to the village where the genius of the Italian Renaissance, Leonardo, was born. The 1000 Miglia will continue crossing Montecatini Terme, Pistoia, Florence, Futa and the Raticosa passes before arriving in Bologna at 9:15 p.m.
