The fourth race afternoon of 335 kilometres

Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli near the fourth victory in a row

The Time Control at the start from Solomeo opened the twelfth sector of the race. Once past the shore of Lake Trasimeno, the snaking convoy covered a further 40 kilometres, entering Sienese territory with the stamp at Sinalunga, known as the balcony over the Valdichiana, which spreads out at the foot of the town to please the eyes of those passing through. Immersed in the beautiful Crete Senesi, the crews completed a block of eight Time Trials at San Gimignanello. Before the second Average Trial of the day, the convoy then passed through the centre of Asciano, in the heart of the ancient Etruscan town. The panoramas that unfolded in these lands were breathtaking, amidst immense expanses of green and golden sun-kissed hills, cypresses and olive trees.

The customary leg from Piazza del Campo in Siena was, as always, greatly appreciated both by the participants, who, while waiting for the T.C., got out of their cars to immortalise themselves in the Piazza of the Palio, and by the spectators, who cheered the crews through the streets of the centre.

After leaving Siena, the Chianti region continued to offer the competitors hilly landscapes, characteristic of this fourth leg, as beautiful as it was demanding. Another seven Time Trials were held at Poggio San Polo, after which Radda in Chianti welcomed the event for a Passage Control.

In Val Pesa, the first and only Florentine race activity was held, the Average Trial of the Testalepre Pass. A few kilometres further north the Travelling Museum reached Prato, a medieval city, today a centre of multiculturalism and home to an important textile district. The last kilometres in Tuscany will revive the memory of the 1000 Miglia race on the Futa and Raticosa passes, emblematic sceneries of the exploits of pilots of the past.

The upper Bolognese Apennines will host the last Time Trials of the day in Monghidoro, after which the convoy will reach San Lazzaro di Savena for the Time Control that will conclude this very long fourth leg. As happened in Turin on Tuesday, after the Time Control in the suburbs, the city will welcome the event in the centre, in Piazza Luciano Bracci.

The classification, updated at Time Trial 132, confirms Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli in first place with their 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Ss Zagato. In second place Fontanella and Covelli, with the 1929 Lancia Lambda Casaro, third Aliverti and Valente, also with a 1929 6C. In fourth place the Turelli crew in a 1929 O.M. 665 SMm Superba 2000 Cm3.

Frank Binder and Giordano Mozzi are leading the Ferrari Tribute, followed by Sangiovanni-Sangiovanni in an 812 and by Vergamini-Fabrizi in a SF90 Spider. The Smussi crew slides down into fourth place.
