1000 Miglia 2024, today the last leg

Vesco and Salvinelli toward the record fourth consecutive vivtory, tonight the price giving ceremony

After almost 2000 kilometres covered, the closing phases of the 42nd Red Arrow re-enactment have now been reached. The first city to host the final leg of the event was Ferrara, a great 1000 Miglia classic: a Passage Control was held in Piazza Trento e Trieste, after which the cars reached Piazza Ariostea and the Estense Castle for the first three Time Trials of the morning.

After crossing the river Po, between Occhiobello and Stienta, another block of tests immediately followed. These were the last of the 2024 edition. Next, straight to Bovolone for a stamp and Time Control that inaugurated the last sector of the race.

The section approaching the finish line in Brescia will include five more Time Controls. The first will be held at Villafranca di Verona, in the courtyard inside the Scaligero Castle, specially set up for the occasion. Some thirty kilometres in a north-westerly direction and it will be the turn of Sirmione, then Desenzano del Garda and the Valtenesi, with the passage through Padenghe, Moniga, Manerba (whose port will be the seat of the P.C.) and San Felice. Before the arrival in Salò, the last locality visited by this year’s extra-large edition, a special guest will also join the convoy: the Italian pop star Blanco, winner of the 2022 Sanremo Festival, will experience the last stretch of the race on board a Giannini Sport 750 Siluro and will remain in the company of the competitors for the rest of the day.

The Time Control that will mark the end of the 2200-kilometre drive will await the crews in Via Bormioli in Brescia, after which the cars will parade as usual passing through the Viale Venezia platform. In the following hours, the Red Arrow will share its Travelling Museum with the streets and squares of the city centre for a few hours: the cars will park in Corso Zanardelli, Via X Giornate, Piazza Mercato, Piazza Paolo VI, Largo Formentone, Via IV Novembre and Piazza Tebaldo Brusato. At 6.30 pm, on the stage of the White Night in Piazza della Loggia, the prize-giving ceremony will take place.
