1000 Miglia, a morning among the unique villages of central Italy

After yesterday’s parade in Via Veneto, during which the cars were presented to the public in a splendid summery Roman evening, this morning the convoy of the 1000 Miglia 2024 set off again from the Italian capital: the historic cars took off early from Parco de Medici, while the Ferraris of the 1000 Miglia Tribute restarted their engines at Villa Borghese.

At the microphone on the platform yesterday, many drivers did not fail to mention the difficulty of today’s leg: awaiting the crews over the next few hours will be 38 Time Trials and 3 Average Trials along a 590-kilometre route.

The first Passage Control of the day was held in Civita Castellana, an ancient volcanic tuff town in Tuscia built on the ruins of an ancient Etruscan city and renowned for its sanctuaries and necropolis, which make it a precious archaeological site, and for the production of ceramics exported all over the world. Subsequent passage control took place within the imposing polygonal walls of Amelia, while the inaugural Time Trial block of this fourth leg was scheduled in Baschi.

This will be followed by the passage through Orvieto, where the cars, immersed in a unique atmosphere of medieval architecture and Renaissance art, will parade in the presence of the imposing Duomo. Just a few kilometres from the picturesque village, the Average Trial of Castello della Sala will take place: starting from Pianlungo, the trial will lead the crews to Ficulle, a village of fine living, while before stopping for lunch there will also be time for the Time Trial of Montegabbione, among the hills, olive groves and vineyards of the Terni countryside.

Brunello Cucinelli and Solomeo will open their doors to the historic cars: the village of Cashemere and harmony will welcome the Most Beautiful Race in the World with the Castle, the Church of San Bartolomeo and the Accademia Neoumanistica, up to the heart of the company.

The 1000 Miglia 2024 classification changes after the Baschi trials: Alvierti and Valente are now in second place, followed by Belometti-Bergomi and Turelli-Turelli. Fontanella and Covelli move down to fifth place. Vesco and Salvinelli are still in the lead.

The Sangiovannis are now second in the Ferrari Tribute in front of the Smussis. Binder and Mozzi and in the lead.
