The presentation of the 1000 Miglia 2019 in Geneva on 4 March

As is traditional, the 1000 Miglia has chosen Geneva to make its presentation to international media.

There are many news this year, starting from a reduction in the number of cars taking part in the race. To improve safety it was necessary to limit the number of cars in the competition and so instead of 450, only 430 cars shall be at the departure point, belonging to 71 automobile manufacturers.

For the sixth year in a row, there will be 5 cars belonging to the Military category, driven by members of the Italian Armed Forces.
This year also, there shall be some side shows at the 1000 Miglia reserved to roughly 130 modern cars: the Ferrari Tribute to 1000 Miglia and Mercedes Benz 1000 Miglia Challenge.

The 425 teams accepted for the race are from 32 countries and all 5 continents.

The cars which took part in at least one of the twenty-four of the 1000 Miglia racing events held from 1927 to 1957 are 98.

The country with the most participants is still Italy with 36% of the participants admitted. The Netherlands is in second place with 15% of those accepted, followed by Germany with 10% and the United Kingdom with 9%.

The car maker with the most vehicles is Alfa Romeo with 39 cars, followed by Jaguar with 36, Fiat with 31 and Mercedes-Benz and Lancia with 29.

The accepted cars will go from Brescia to Roma and back in four days, travelling for 1801 kilometres and facing 112 time trials and 7 hourly average tests.
