Brescia, 21 April 2023 – 1000 Miglia is also synonymous with design, and always has been: from the designs of the unique models that took part in the speed race, to the innovations of the super cars of the Experience and the Ferrari Tribute, passing through the combination of aesthetics, performance and eco-sustainability of the 1000 Miglia Green. Today, however, the Red Arrow is not only The Most Beautiful Race In The World, it is also synonymous with a lifestyle, and has extended its values beyond the confines of motor racing.
This is why the 1000 Miglia has put itself in the front line with the City of Brescia in the year of the Capital of Culture, and has decided to celebrate this association by donating to its city an artistic installation created by Sabine Marcelis, recently nominated Designer of the Year at the ELLE DECO International Design Awards, the event that the international magazine organises annually to reward the world’s best designers and their products, hosted this year at the Museo del Novecento as part of Milan Design Week.
Sabine Marcelis’s hallmark is a dynamic visual interplay of transparency, refraction and iridescence; seeking the perfect balance between minimalism, functionality, longevity and emotional evocation. The Dutch artist and designer had already conceived and created the cups and medals for the 1000 Miglia 2022 (in the cover photo, credits Pim Top), and is now ready to apply her inimitable flair for experimentation with materials, light and colour in the creation of a work that will be inaugurated and presented in June in the lead-up to the 1000 Miglia 2023.
