1000 Miglia 2024 in Rome

The cars paraded on the Via Veneto platform on a splendid Roman evening

Having reached the Italian capital, the customary end-of-leg Time Control awaited the crews in the Villa Borghese park. The first O.M. cars crossed the Porta Pinciana arch shortly after 8.30 pm, preceded by the Ferraris of the Tribute, the Supercars of the 1000 Miglia Experience and the Full-Electric cars of the 1000 Miglia Green. The centre of Rome was thus energised by the unmistakable roar of the cars built between 1927 and 1957, which, after having driven along Via Veneto, were presented on the specially prepared platform.

At the end of the parade, the cars passed in front of the Colosseum for a unique glimpse worthy of the Most Beautiful Race in the World.

At the turn around point the classification remains with Vesco-Salvinelli in the lead and Fontanella-Covelli second. In a dramatic turn of events in third position: Turelli-Turelli overthrow Aliverti-Valente.

“So far we have had ups and downs, tomorrow we hope to give the classification a nice boost” commented Gianmario Fontanella at the arrival on the platform. Instead, Andrea Vesco was satisfied: “Today was a fun leg, we are less tired than yesterday. Tomorrow, however, will be tough, there will be the bulk of the trials and the goal is to maintain the accumulated advantage”.
