1000 Miglia, another step forward the goal of sustainability

The daring and innovative spirit has been in the DNA of the Red Arrow since the days of the speed race, which is why the 1000 Miglia could not shy away from tackling the challenges that contemporary times demand regarding sustainable development. This morning, the President of 1000 Miglia Srl, Beatrice Saottini, received from Andrea Filippi, member of Bureau Veritas, world leader in audit and certification services, the certificate of verification with regard to the ISO 14064-1 standard, which confirms the amount of Greenhouse Gas emissions of the company organising all the events of the Red Arrow.

Through the analysis of the company’s carbon footprint, the total greenhouse gas emissions caused, directly or indirectly, by 1000 Miglia Srl during the year 2022 was determined. The calculation of the organisation’s carbon footprint represents the first step, i.e. the extent, of the implementation of a Carbon Management strategy that includes emission reduction and offsetting actions.

Last year, the company began its sustainability journey with the calculation of the carbon footprint of the Coppa delle Alpi 2023. The project then continued with the offsetting of 100% of the GHG emissions caused by the event, through the purchase of internationally recognised carbon credits.

In 2024, the goal is to identify a systematic method that is replicable and usable on all of the organisation’s events. Alongside this project, for the first time in history, is the calculation of the carbon footprint of the 1000 Miglia 2024.
