The crews arrived in Viareggio after an afternoon of racing between the sea and mountains

Departing from Genoa’s Porto Antico after the race lunch, the cars of the 1000 Miglia 2024 paraded through the streets of the city centre until their transit in Piazza Vittoria, with a Passage Control in front of the Arco della Vittoria.

Leaving the city, the convoy continued to follow the coastline for another sixty kilometres: on one side, the azure and blue of the Ligurian Sea, made even more vivid by the blazing sun, on the other, steep mountains creating coves almost plunging down to the coast. Next, the crews turned inland to tackle the Average Trial of the Passo Bracco. The return to the coast also saw the last Ligurian segment of the Red Arrow 2024 edition, the passage through La Spezia: first the Passage Control and Time Trials among the imposing Navy frigates inside the Maritime Military Arsenal, then another stamp in the heart of the city, in Piazza Verdi. On Tuscan soil, Massa welcomed the arrival of the convoy, in the splendid Piazza degli Aranci

The cars continued along Versilia to Viareggio, with the Art Nouveau buildings of the famous Passeggiata providing the setting for four Time Trials. The Time Control that marked the end of the second leg was at Torre del Lago Puccini, in memory of the 100th anniversary of the death of the Maestro.

The updated classification at Time Trial 56 still shows the trio of crews Vesco-Salvinelli, Fontanella-Covelli and Aliverti-Valente in the lead.
