At 8 a.m. this morning, the fourth leg of the 1000 Miglia 2023 started from Parma. Some 600 kilometres to the final finish line, we begin to feel the incandescent atmosphere of the decisive moments in the race for victory.
Besides the race, however, the 1000 Miglia also means experiencing the most beautiful country in the world, both in the beauty of the landscapes and city centres and in meeting people. Yesterday the welcoming from Parma was extremely warm, as it had been along the Siena hills a few hours earlier, with hundreds of jubilant people at the side of the road and “W la 1000 Miglia” banners In addition hanging here and there.
The day began with a block of 10 concatenated Time Trials inside the San Damiano Military Airport valid for the “One Hundred Years of the Italian Air Force” Trophy, followed by a Passage Control. The race will then pass through the territories of Oltrepò Pavese and Valle Versa, before arriving in Pavia for the Time Control along the Strada Nuova as far as Ponte Coperto and then heading west.
Then there will be the eagerly awaited transit through Piedmont, an absolute new feature in the history of the re-enactment with only two precedents in the speed race, 1947 and 1948. Alessandria will be the first municipality to welcome the historic convoy and will host the crews for the race lunch, served among the iconic porticos of Piazza Garibaldi that recall the irresistible charm of the Belle Epoque.

Starting from Trieste, the crews will cross the entire Alpine arc from East to West in five legs, crossing the borders of Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Germany and France, travelling 1620 kilometres that will take them to Courmayeur 🏞️
The competition will be flanked by the project “The Great Alpine Journey”, a path of reflection parallel to the race itinerary aimed at representing the socio-economic, anthropological and environmental transformations of the Alpine macro-region ⛰️

For the third year running, Alfonso Facchini and Luigia Olivetti in a 1938 B.M.W 328 triumphed in the third edition of the event by #1000Miglia! 🚗🥇
On the podium in second place were Tarcisio Bonomi e Patrizia Codini in a 1955 Porsche 356 1500 Speedster🥈, and on the third step Alessandro Girardi e Simonetta Mastellini in a 1955 Porsche 356 1500 Coupé🥉
Riccardo Fiorentini and Giovanna Ceci in a 1972 Porsche 911 2.4 T Targa won the “Città di Sorrento Trophy” 🏆

Following the car exhibition, the crews reached the island of Capri by sea, where they enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of one of the world’s most sought-after tourist destinations 🌊
After returning to the peninsula, the drivers and co-drivers prepared for the 1 vs 1 knockout regularity challenges for the 3rd “Città di Sorrento Trophy” 🏁🚗

Drivers and co-drivers resumed their journey with Time Trials in the splendid setting of the Marina di Arechi - Salerno Port Village 🌊
Before leaving the southern gulf of the Sorrento peninsula, the cars animated the central streets of Salerno where the Passage Control was dedicated to the Automobile Club of Salerno ⏱️
After the last time trials along the Sorrentina National Road, the cars passed through Vico Equense📍
The race day ended with the return of the crews to Sorrento, with the last passage control at Piazza Veniero in Sorrento that confirmed the winners of the third edition of the Sorrento Roads: Alfonso Facchini and Luigia Olivetti in a B.M.W 328 from 1938 🏆
