1000 Miglia 2026: the northbound journey begins

The fourth leg of the 1000 Miglia 2026 got underway this morning from Parco de’ Medici in Rome, where the sun was shining but a pleasant breeze was blowing, with the crews ready to head north along the peninsula towards the Adriatic.

The provisional classification, finalised last night at the end of the third leg following the triumphant arrival in the Eternal City amidst crowds lining Via Veneto, once again see the Argentine siblings Juan and Margarita Tonconogy in the lead. Hot on their heels are the defending champions Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli. Lorenzo and Mario Turelli hold on to third place.

After the first Time Trials of the day, the convoy will head to Terni for the Time Control on Viale Leopardi, before crossing Umbria along the Via Flaminia. The race will enter the historic centre of Foligno for a Passage Control in Piazza della Repubblica and reach the evocative setting of Assisi. This passage will serve as a heartfelt tribute to St Francis, the patron saint of Italy, in the year marking the 800th anniversary of his death. Following the Passage Control in Gualdo Tadino, the historic cars will head towards Gubbio, where a race lunch will be held before the convoy resumes its journey northwards.
