There are stories that are not just written in books, but lie quietly in a drawer, in an old picture frame or inside a tin box in the attic. Stories of happy faces lining the roadside, of the roar of engines that make the heart tremble, of the smell of petrol, of drivers in racing suits and of children waiting to catch a glimpse of a red racing car during its passage.
With our sights set on 2027, the year that marks the Centenary of the first legendary edition in 1927, 1000 Miglia is launching the 1000 Miglia Collection Days. A special event, created to rediscover, protect and bring to light the living, shared memory of the Most Beautiful Race in The World transforming those who love it into the true storytellers of a century of passion.
Whether it is an important heirloom or a small object treasured as a lucky charm, every trace tells a little piece of this legend. 1000 Miglia brings together the Brescia community – which has always been the beating heart and cradle of the race – but is extending the invitation to anyone who has encountered the magic of the Red Arrow along their journey. Do you have a black-and-white photograph of your family on the race route at home? A vintage poster, an old notebook with drivers’ autographs, a vintage handkerchief or an amateur film? Or perhaps a weathered helmet, a pair of worn gloves, a memoir or a mechanical part unearthed in the garage? Each of these objects is a vital piece of a unique mosaic.
The project
Conceived and coordinated by 1000 Miglia Srl and developed under the scientific guidance of Professor Elena Pala, a historian affiliated with the University of Milan, the Collection Days journey will receive invaluable support from Editoriale Bresciana, which, through the Group’s media outlets, will give a voice to the protagonists, gathering stories and anecdotes and recounting the project through the pages of the Giornale di Brescia, Teletutto programmes and the broadcasts of Radio Bresciasette. The shared material will form a collective heritage, a great shared memory that will celebrate the human and cultural heritage of the race.
The Collection Days will be held in the Sala Libretti at the Giornale di Brescia editorial offices at 22 Via Solferino. Five afternoons dedicated to listening to, viewing and cataloguing memories:
- Wednesday 14 October 2026: 1st Collection Day
- Wednesday 21 October 2026: 2nd Collection Day
- Wednesday 28 October 2026: 3rd Collection Day
- Wednesday 4 November 2026: 4th Collection Day
- Wednesday 11 November 2026: 5th Collection Day

Statements
“The 1000 Miglia and Brescia are bound by a deep, unbreakable bond, forged from history, identity and popular participation. The race was born here and it is here that it continues to find its most authentic soul: in the streets, in the squares, in families’ memories and in the eyes of those who, generation after generation, have watched it pass by and felt it to be part of their own lives. In the run-up to the Centenary in 2027, the Collection Days represent a precious opportunity to give a voice back to this shared heritage, gathering testimonies and memories that illustrate just how much the 1000 Miglia belongs to the city and how much Brescia has contributed to making it a legend known throughout the world.”
Aldo Bonomi, President of the Automobile Club of Brescia
“The 1000 Miglia is not just an extraordinary motor race; it is an emotional heritage that is part of the lives of entire generations. Ahead of the historic Centenary milestone in 2027, we wanted to create a tangible opportunity to restore value to this shared memory. Clearing out attics, dusting off old photo albums and sharing a family memory means enabling every citizen to become a protagonist in a collective narrative. With the Collection Days, we want to celebrate precisely this: the authentic spirit of an event which, today just as it did a hundred years ago, draws its strength from its connection with the people.”
Fulvio D’Alvia, CEO of 1000 Miglia Srl
