Roberts – Butt champions at the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Switzerland

Keith Roberts and Douglas Butt, driving a 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Zagato, won the 2025 edition of the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Switzerland. Adrian and Alison Martin came second in a 1939 MG TB, with Paul and Ed Riddle coming third in a 1956 Jaguar XK140 OTS.

This year’s edition kicked off on Thursday with the arrival of the crews in Neuchâtel. Participants were welcomed in a friendly and engaging atmosphere, before taking part in a training session on Italian regularity races, designed to introduce newcomers in particular to the rules and techniques of precision racing.

On Friday, the official start took place at Place des Halles, in the heart of the city. The route took the crews to Saint-Ursanne, a charming medieval village in the canton of Jura, nestled between the banks of the Doubs river and the wooded hills of the region. From there, the convoy crossed the border into France before returning to Switzerland at Champ-du-Moulin. In the afternoon, we passed through Estavayer-le-Lac, a small town on Lake Neuchâtel, renowned for its Gothic castle and well-preserved old town. The evening ended with dinner at the Hôtel DuPeyrou, an elegant historic building dating back to 1764 located in the heart of Neuchâtel, which welcomed guests in a refined atmosphere steeped in history and culinary tradition.

On Saturday morning, the start was from the impressive Neuchâtel Castle, a 12th-century building that dominates the city with its historic architecture and panoramic view of the lake. From there, the cars drove through the heart of Fribourg, where, as a special treat, they were able to cross the famous city bridge, normally reserved for public transport. Lunch was then served at altitude, in the extraordinary alpine setting of Griesalp, reached by tackling the steepest road open to traffic in Europe: a challenging but incredibly scenic stretch, with tight hairpin bends and breathtaking landscapes. In the afternoon, the time trials took place at the Stockental track, a former military facility located in the hills of the Canton of Bern, now converted into a driving and training centre. This circuit provided the ideal environment to test the skills, precision and consistency of the participants, adding an intense sporting thrill to the day.

On Sunday morning, the departure from Place du Port in Neuchâtel marked the final stage of the route, with a scenic itinerary that skirted Lake Biel, treating the crews to an emotional farewell surrounded by the reflections of the water and the rolling hills.
