1000 Miglia 2026, morning in Tuscany and lunch in Siena

The third day of the 1000 Miglia 2026 set off this morning from a cool, misty Montecatini Terme to begin the 500-kilometre journey towards the Italian capital. The pleasant early-morning temperatures were particularly welcomed by the participants, before the sun came out again in Pietrasanta, causing the temperature to rise.

After the Time Trials on the historic walls of Lucca, the convoy headed towards the coast to complete the Passage Controls in Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi, before setting course for Pisa to parade in front of the iconic Tower. All along the route, a warm crowd of enthusiasts welcomed the passage of cars before the race plunged into the Tuscan hills between Pontedera, Peccioli and Palaia. Then came the lunch stop in Siena, one of the most eagerly awaited and picturesque locations of the entire route: the cars were welcomed by the unique setting of Piazza del Campo, traditionally decked out in the Italian flag.

The leaderboard confirmed the thrilling battle at the top, with the siblings Juan and Margarita Tonconogy and Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli vying for the lead.

In the afternoon, the race set off again from Siena to explore the Val d’Orcia, tackling the climb up to Radicofani and passing through the scenic stretches along Lake Bolsena and Ronciglione, before the final finish in Rome.
