Bringing the excitement of the Red Arrow beyond the barriers of frailty, transforming the history of motor racing into a tool for inclusion and remembrance. It was in this spirit that the latest leg of “1000 Storie” took place today at the Fondazione Casa di Dio facility in Villaggio Violino. This Corporate Social Responsibility project sees 1000 Miglia SRL putting its organisational structure at the service of the Brescia community.
The aim of the initiative is to allow those who, for various reasons, cannot follow the passing of the race in person to experience the 1000 Miglia first-hand. At Casa Zanoni Cavallaro, the passion for classic cars has become a bridge between memories and new stories, uniting generations in an event that blends motoring culture with human warmth. Eyes full of wonder and tales spanning the ages marked a morning in which the past encountered the present in an atmosphere of genuine community spirit.
THE HEART OF THE EVENT
The residence welcomed 20 classic cars and hosted the traditional sealing procedures carried out by the 40 volunteers from the Technical Support Convoy (lead and tail cars, mechanical assistance and reference cars for distance and order within the convoy) present at the event. More than an exhibition, the gathering was a genuine opportunity for dialogue: the morning began with greetings from representatives of the Foundation, Brescia city councillor Mirco Biasutti, the president of AC Brescia Aldo Bonomi, the president of 1000 Miglia Srl Beatrice Saottini and the managing director Fulvio D’Alvia.
Those present then learnt some interesting facts about the history of the 1000 Miglia and the current re-enactment. The highlight was the opportunity to climb aboard the cars made available by volunteers for a short drive around the neighbourhood, allowing guests and visitors to experience the thrill of travelling in a classic car.
PROFESSIONALISM IN THE SERVICE OF THE COMMUNITY
The protagonists of “1000 Storie” are the professionals who ensure the safety and precision of the race every year. Specialised operators who choose to offer their expertise free of charge for a charitable cause. The project forms part of a broader CSR strategy, which sees 1000 Miglia Srl also committed to environmental sustainability, supporting research and education in schools through the “La 1000 MIGLIA va a scuola” (“1000 Miglia goes to school”) project.
STATEMENTS
“The 1000 Miglia is an integral part of Italy’s heritage and, above all, of our city and our province: we feel a duty to be present amongst our people and to actively participate in community life,” said Aldo Bonomi, President of Ac Brescia. “I would like to thank Fondazione Casa di Dio for their warm welcome and, in particular, the members of the Technical Support Convoy. We wish to continue along this path, sharing our history and our closeness with those who welcome us with such affection.”
“We are now in the final stages: on 7 June, the Village will open in Piazza Vittoria and on the 9th, the 1000 Miglia will officially set off,” added Beatrice Saottini, President of 1000 Miglia Srl. “This year, we will head straight for Val Trompia and Lake Garda, then head down towards Rome and back up on Saturday 13 June for the grand finale. Bringing 1000 Storie here today is an honour for us: these people are the first to recall the excitement of the historic 1000 Miglia that ended in the 1950s. I thank the CTS for ensuring safety each kilometre of the way, and the drivers who have shared their passion with us today.”
“We are here to demonstrate a moment of genuine solidarity with the city,” said Fulvio D’Alvia, Managing Director of 1000 Miglia Srl. “The 1000 Miglia is part of Brescia’s heritage, and the significance of these days is precisely to restore a sense of belonging to the community, allowing this to be experienced even in circumstances of vulnerability. I would like to thank the management of the facility and all the guests who have shared this moment with us.”
“This centre, named after an extraordinary woman for her civic commitment, Maria Zanoni Cavallaro, aspires to be the central space of this village,” commented Stefania Mosconi, General Manager of Fondazione Casa di Dio. “The large turnout today confirms that we are on the right track. There is a deep bond between us and the Red Arrow: we are both part of the community’s heritage. For this reason, looking ahead to the race’s 100th anniversary and our own 450th, which we will celebrate in 2027, I hope this is merely a ‘see you soon’ so that we can celebrate these two very special anniversaries together.”
“The City Council is truly proud to host this initiative, which finds its cornerstone precisely in the concept of community,” explained City Councillor Mirco Biasutti. “There is a deep connection between an event like the 1000 Miglia, which showcases Brescia throughout the world, and the Fondazione Casa di Dio, which represents the heart of this neighbourhood. Seeing the Red Arrow become part of this social fabric confirms the value of a project that puts people at the forefront”.
