From 24 to 29 May 2027, the 1000 Miglia will mark the centenary of its first edition with a grand tribute to the legendary race and to the “Made in Italy” excellence it has helped to build.
The route draws on a deep connection with the first edition of 1927: the original route has been redesigned and adapted to today’s requirements, whilst keeping intact the spirit and essence of the endeavour conceived a century ago by the “Four Musketeers”. In keeping with this tradition, the 2027 edition of the most beautiful race in the world will return to a loop route and, as in the 1927 race, will be run anti-clockwise. In keeping with this tradition, the 2027 edition will see a return to the anti-clockwise direction, just as it was in 1927. A further novelty of the Centenary compared to the two most recent re-enactments of the most beautiful race in the world will be the loop route.
Monday 24 May – Brescia → Parma
The Red Arrow will set off at 6.00 pm from the ramp on Viale Venezia in Brescia. After the Time Trials at the Castle and the first Passage Control at the village in Piazza Vittoria, the crews will descend towards the plain and Castiglione delle Stiviere, the birthplace of Giuseppe Morandi. The finish is in Parma, with dinner taking place in the setting of the Palazzo della Pilotta.
Tuesday 25 May – Parma → Florence
The convoy will reach Reggio Emilia and Modena, where lunch will be served during the race. In the afternoon, the route crosses the Apennines via the Raticosa and Futa Passes, iconic bends where historic chapters of motoring were written. The end-of-leg Time Control will be in Florence, with the finish in Piazza Santa Croce and dinner.
Wednesday 26 May – Florence → Rome
From the City of the Lily, the route will pass through the Chianti Valley and Arezzo, before arriving in Siena, where the traditional “Tartarugone” lunch stop will take place, with the cars lined up in Piazza del Campo: an opportunity to also celebrate the centenary of the ACI in Siena. Setting off again from the City of the Palio, the 1000 Miglia will wind its way through the Crete Senesi, Pienza and Lake Bolsena, until it reaches the lights of Rome for the eagerly awaited halfway point.
Thursday 27 May – Rome → Cervia
The journey back north begins. After Assisi, there will be a lunch stop in Perugia; the convoy will then cross the Madonna della Cima passage, retracing a passage of the 1927 route, and pass through Gubbio, Macerata, Ancona and the Conero Riviera, following the original itinerary along the entire SS16 Adriatica. Among the day’s new features is a dinner during the race in the village of Gradara, between the Rocca and the Castello, featuring historical re-enactments in period costume. The evening Time Control is at Cervia.
Friday 28 May – Cervia → Verona
From Cervia, the route will pass through Ferrara, Rovigo and Padua, with a lunch stop at Prato della Valle, then on to Treviso and the Valdobbiadene hills. The race will tackle the hairpin bends of the Scale di Primolano, the scene of legendary battles between the pioneers of the early editions, and will pass through Bassano del Grappa and Vicenza – just as it did a century ago – before arriving in Verona.
Saturday 29 May – Verona → Brescia
The final day will be a celebration of Brescia and its province, the cradle of the 1000 Miglia legend. The route will trace a grand embrace of the region, starting from the Lower Garda and continuing through the Valtenesi and Val Sabbia, with a return stop for lunch in Lumezzane, which this year is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the municipality’s founding – an anniversary it shares with the Red Arrow. After the Valtrompia, the cars will skirt the Lake Iseo and pass through the Franciacorta region on their way to the provincial capital.
In the afternoon, a final Passage Control in Piazza Vittoria will allow the people of Brescia to admire the cars up close in the heart of the historic centre. The crews will finally reach the finish line at the Time Control on Viale Venezia, where the winners of the Centenary edition will be crowned, recreating the conclusion of the 1927 race.
