1000 MIGLIA WARM UP USA 2024, SECOND LEG AND 1 VS 1 CHALLENGE

Lit-up pressure switches in the darkness of the Atoka Chase area provided an unprecedented closing of the leg last night: the debut of the evening practice thrilled the crews and added adrenaline to the race.

In starting the third leg, the cars, upon leaving Middleburg, reached the Blue Ridge Mountains for an 8-kilometer Average Trial along the stretch of road from Ashby Gap to Bluemont, also passing by Mount Weather Emergency Operations, a government facility where the Federal Emergency Management Agency operates, used in cases of national disaster.

Later in the morning the cars were welcomed for a Passage Control at Harper’s Ferry, a small 19th-century urban center on the tongue of land in a low flood plain formed by the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers on the border of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. The cars then headed to Summit Point Motor Park where, on the Shenandoah Circuit, they took on no less than 20 concatenated Time Trials before returning to Virginia.

Skirting the banks of the Shenandoah River, the sixth Average Trial of the race took place from Ashby Run, 9 secret detections in just over 7 kilometers. The convoy then continued its descent in the direction of Middleburg to close the fourth sector of the race with the Time Trials in the residential area of the Salamander Resort.

After lunch, the highlight of the day, the 1 vs. 1 challenge of the Middleburg Trophy, which will enliven the town center from 4:30 pm: the cars will compete in a knockout race in a regularity test of about 80 meters. At the end of the Trophy, the cars will remain on display on M. Madison St. for an evening of celebration in the city.
