Tirano and Media Valtellina. Crossroads of the Alps between culture, nature and sport
The Tirano and Media Valtellina area is a meeting point between nature, history, flavours and traditions, with the bottom of the valley characterised by prestigious winter and summer tourist resorts. Twelve municipalities enclosed in the heart of the valley narrate the traditions of the people who have passed through and inhabited it over the years: there are numerous sanctuaries, churches, palaces and historical sites such as towers, castles and medieval gates that make Tirano and Media Valtellina an appealing cultural destination. In Tirano it is also possible to board the famous Bernina Red Train for a journey through breath-taking views, blossoming landscapes and snowy panoramas. Without forgetting that the Media Valtellina is a unique experience for sports activities, artistic and historical treasures and local food and wine specialities such as pizzoccheri and chisciöi.
Bormio, a fairy-tale landscape in the Alps
Nestled in the heart of the Alps, the historic centre of Bormio preserves an important artistic heritage. Among the most significant reminders of its past are the towers, once thirty-two in number, a symbol of power for the families who had them built. Among these, the Torre degli Alberti, the tower annexed to Palazzo De Simoni and the Torre delle Ore in Piazza del Kuerc stand out. The area boasts world-class ski slopes and a skiable altitude difference of 1,800 metres, the largest in Italy. As for the thermal baths of Bormio, they were already known in ancient times for their healing properties. If in winter Bormio is a paradise for outdoor sports, in summer guests from all over the world come to challenge themselves on their bikes on the Stelvio and Gavia climbs, made epic by the Giro d’Italia. Finally, in 2026 Bormio and its famous Stelvio slope will be the centre of attention at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games, hosting the men’s alpine skiing competitions and the debut discipline, ski mountaineering.
Livigno, Olympic Valley 2026 in the heart of the Alps
Livigno is not just a destination, it is also an exclusive experience, a place where nature, sport and lifestyle come together to create a unique atmosphere. Known as the “Little Tibet” of Europe due to its altitude (1816 metres) and its invigorating views, this icon of the Upper Valtellina represents the perfect balance between alpine authenticity and contemporary innovation.
A favourite destination for those looking for authentic emotions and new trends, Livigno welcomes discerning travellers who love to challenge themselves and live every moment to the full. Whether you are a sports enthusiast, a food lover, a shopaholic or simply looking for the authentic Italian lifestyle – at over 1800 metres – you can breathe in the authentic Alpine Energy.
Livigno stands out as one of the most sought-after destinations for high altitude sports throughout the year. It is preparing to be a protagonist of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics, hosting the freestyle and snowboard competitions. An achievement that confirms its role at the forefront of the international winter sports scene.
St. Moritz, a unique place at 1856 metres
The uniqueness of St. Moritz makes it a landmark among Alpine resorts. St. Moritz has consistently demonstrated its pioneering spirit, both in the past and in the present. It was home to two Winter Olympics. However, St. Moritz is much more than just a winter destination.
The thermal spring of Mauritius was discovered over three thousand years ago, and wellness continues to be a focal point today. Furthermore, the Alpine town is a stage for artists, trendsetters, and car lovers alike. Automobile events have been a firm fixture at this extraordinary alpine resort since 1929.
Aside from these events the resort is a playground all year around, with culinary highlights, a wide array of sports opportunities as well as numerous museums and galleries providing a unique stay at 1856 metres.

St. Moritz – Bressanone
Regione Seefeld, Where luxury meets nature
Situated between the mountains and the valley, its location alone makes the Region Seefeld – Tirols Hochplateau something special. At an altitude of 1,200 metres, it features a gentle, pastoral landscape that opens widely to the south while being framed, at the same time, by the rugged Alpine peaks of the Karwendel and Mieminger ranges and the Wetterstein massif with the renowned Zugspitze peak.
Whatever the time of year, Tyrol’s high plateau invites you to savour its unique diversity and heartfelt Tyrolean hospitality: top-class culinary delights, action-packed sports activities on snow or rock, exclusive spa treatments or tranquillity and relaxation amidst virtually untouched nature. In the region’s five idyllically situated villages – Seefeld, Leutasch, Mösern, Reith and Scharnitz – you don’t have to choose: here you can have it all. Its central location close to Innsbruck also makes the high plateau easy to reach.
What could be more enjoyable than a leisurely stroll through one of Tyrol’s oldest pedestrian zones? In the town of Seefeld, in addition to elegant shops and cosy restaurants, you can still find long-established traditional businesses and time-honoured craftsmanship.
The region has also been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for a year now and is proud to be able to offer sustainable tourism and thus protect precious nature for future generations!
Welcome to Val Mustair
The town of Val Müstair is famous for its nature, tranquillity and culture. Some of its main attractions are the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Benedictine Monastery of St John the Baptist, the Engadine Val Müstair Biosphere Reserve and the Swiss National Park.
The valley offers recreational activities all year round: in winter, winter sports such as skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. In summer, the walking trails allow you to explore breathtaking landscapes, while the biking trails satisfy both beginners and experts. Val Müstair is also characterised by living traditions and a typical language: the Romansh language. For the local population, called “Jauers”, it is simply “nossa Val” – the Monastery Valley.
Bressanone-Brixen, a jewel of history and nature
The oldest town in the Tyrolean region retains important traces of its past. Over the course of time, it was a stopover on the travels of emperors and became a magnificent Episcopal seat. Brixen/Bressanone has enviable historical and architectural beauties: the square in front of the cathedral, the medieval old town, the arcades and decorated streets, the museum treasures, the craft tradition and the archaeological finds. Bressanone is also a university town, home to the Academic Theological Study at the Episcopal Major Seminary of Bressanone (since 1607) and, since 2001, to the Faculty of Education of the Free University of Bolzano. Finally, it is worth mentioning that Brixen is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Alps. The Plose ski resort is only 7 kilometres from the city centre. Here, tourists can enjoy 43 kilometres of slopes and a breath-taking view of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Piné Plateau, in the heart of Trentino
A short distance from Trento, is known for its alpine lakes, hills and wooded areas that make it an ideal destination for lovers of outdoor sports, but also for those seeking relaxation and wellness in contact with nature.
The clear waters of the Serraia and Piazze lakes, which have been awarded the Blue Flag for years, a symbol of environmental excellence, offer organised beaches, picnic areas and the possibility of practising numerous water sports, such as SUP and canoeing.
The terrain lends itself particularly well to outdoor activities such as hiking or e-mountain biking and horse riding. Experienced hikers can try their hand at more challenging trekking routes, exploring the Lagorai chain or walking along the path leading to the picturesque Cascata del Lupo.
The Plateau is rich in historical and cultural sites such as the Montagnaga Sanctuary and the ancient Moser Mill.
In autumn, the foliage transforms the woods into an explosion of colours: this is the ideal time to immerse yourself in nature and to savour Malga cheeses from Alpine pastures, mountain honey and small forest fruits, symbols of the rich local food and wine tradition.
And with the arrival of snow, the Pinè Plateau is transformed into a kingdom of glittering ice and traditions, with ice skating rinks, snow-covered parks and the charming “Paes dei Presepi” (nativity scenes).
Ponte di Legno, a little gem set among imposing mountains
Ponte di Legno is located in the upper Camonica Valley, in Lombardy, and is a little gem set among imposing mountains that are extremely fascinating in all seasons. In 1912, the Italian Touring Club defined it as “the foremost Italian winter sports and tourism resort”. Its name is linked to that of the Pass that connects it to nearby Trentino, the Tonale Pass: with 100 km of slopes that go from 1121 m in Temù to 3000 m on the Presena glacier, the Pontedilegno-Tonale area is one of the most renowned ski destinations in the Alps. Not to be missed: the chance to reach the 3000 metre high Presena Pass from the Tonale Pass in just 12 minutes by cable car, to gaze at the Pian di Neve and the Adamello glaciers. In summer, there are endless possibilities for those who love biking or trekking in the unspoilt nature of the Stelvio National Park and the Adamello Park.
