1977: the renaissance of the Freccia

The first regularity race

The heritage of the 1000 Miglia could not remain in the shadows: after a long wait, the race finally returned to its former glory.

Those who were fascinated by the charm of the event were Beppe Lucchini, the President of the Musical Watch Veteran Car Club and of the Scuderia Mirabella Mille Miglia, Vittorio Palazzani, Costantino Franchi, “the new Castagneto”, the journalist Manuel Vigliani (who passed away in 1993), Gino Danieli, in charge of travelling the length and the breadth of the peninsula to trace the route, and Enzo Ziletti, in charge of financial management.

The group obtained permission from the Automobile Club of Brescia to organize the re-enactment of the 1000 Miglia, taking on all financial risks.

Towards a new sealing ceremony

Initially held every two years in 1984 and 1986, since 1987 the 1000 Miglia has been held every year in May, becoming more and more important year after year.

In the second half of the Eighties, the 1000 Miglia was again “the most beautiful race in the world”. In order to lead and manage its brand, Marva Srl was founded and nominated by ACI Brescia.

Brescia at the center of a cultural phenomenon

Collateral events have always been created around the 1000 Miglia, making Brescia known all over the world.

The result is an extraordinary occasion for tourism and great cultural success: that represents the greatest attraction for tourists: concerts, shows, folklore, music, games for children. And also, an exhibition “Fragments of the History of the Mille Miglia”, photographic and figurative art galleries, that make Brescia the world capital of automobile history for a week.
