A crossroads of peoples and trade, it has a multi-ethnic soul, reflected in the varied architectural styles of the buildings and places of worship of the different religious communities, in perfect harmony.
The history of Austro-Hungarian Trieste can be breathed in the traditional Viennese-style cafes, a favourite haunt of citizens to enjoy a “black” cup of coffee and talk about current affairs and culture.
Trieste is the ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts: from climbing rocks to the gulf of sails. Cycling enthusiasts should not miss the cycle routes along the coastline and the old railway line, together with the many Karst trails for mountain bikers.
This corner of Italy offers a unique mix of natural and cultural beauty, to be experienced and savoured through its museums, events and culinary traditions.
