I Luoghi della 1000 Miglia

Pesaro

The 1000 Miglia in Gioachino Rossini’s hometown

Pesaro looks out over the Adriatic Sea. The town nestles in the area between the two main coastal hills: Colle Ardizio to the south-east and Colle San Bartolo to the north-west, the latter home to the Regional San Bartolo Natural Park. Within the Park is Fiorenzuola di Focara, recognised as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Since 2005, the town has been awarded the Blue Flag, an annual award conferred by the FEE to recognise municipalities that meet the criteria of excellent seawater quality and service. The birthplace of the great composer Gioachino Rossini, Pesaro has been a UNESCO Creative City of Music since 2017 and will be the Italian Capital of Culture 2024. It offers a varied programme of events, exhibitions and shows all year round, as well as major summer events of international appeal, such as the Rossini Opera Festival, the Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema, Lonely Planet’s UlisseFest and the CaterRaduno.
